Many people reach out asking if The Satanic Temple will sponsor their efforts to become a chaplain at their university, in their branch of the military, for a correctional facility (prison), or connected to some other institution.
If you are not already an ordained Minister of Satan, then The Satanic Temple may not be your best option for pursuing this goal. Ordination is a way that The Satanic Temple recognizes members who have demonstrated a deep and passionate understanding of the beliefs, values and goals of our church and a long-standing connection to our community. The Satanic Temple does not ordain ministers simply as a “means to an end”. If your main interest in ordination is as a stepping-stone to another goal, there are other religious organizations that might provide you with that path more quickly and easily.
If you are currently ordained by The Satanic Temple, we would be excited for you to pursue chaplaincy as your next step in deepening and enriching your ministerial abilities. Your first step in exploring this path should be to research and gather as much information as you can about the specific chaplaincy requirements at the institution where you are interested in serving. The requirements for becoming a chaplain vary dramatically for different types of institution (e.g. military, incarceration facility, hospital, etc) and in different countries and even states or geographic regions.
Once you have gathered as much information as you are able about eligibility and requirements for chaplaincy at the institution where you would like to serve, reach out to the appropriate group to start a discussion and they will work with you to develop a plan and execute the next steps.

|Prison Chaplaincy||Satanic Representation Campaign|
Please do not reach out to initiate a conversation about chaplaincy until after you have done the research to learn what the specific requirements are for chaplaincy at the specific institution or organization where you would like to serve. Unfortunately, we simply do not have the capacity to do this research for every person who reaches out with this kind of request.
